Vangst Attendance Policy for Employees

ATTENDANCE & ABSENCES

All employees are expected to report for work on time and ready to work every day they are scheduled on assignment.

The Official Vangst Attendance Policy is as follows:

  • Employees are allowed 1 excused absence in the first 30 days on an assignment if advance notice is given.

  • Employees are allowed 1 tardy in the first 30 days on an assignment if advance notice is given.

  • Employees may be removed from an assignment or terminated for the following:

    • 2 or more excused absences with advance notice within first 30 days on an assignment

    • 1 or more unexcused absences within the first 30 days on an assignment regardless of advance notice

    • 1 or more excused absences with advance notice given within the first 30 days on an assignment

    • 2 or more instances of tardiness with advance notice given within the first 30 days on an assignment

    • 1 or more instances of tardiness without advance notice given within the first 30 days on an assignment

Excessive absenteeism or tardiness will result in discipline up to and including termination. Vangst policy and procedures related to an employee absence include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Excused Absence: An excused absence from your scheduled work time is caused by conditions over which the employee has no control or an absence that has been previously approved by both your Vangst supervisor and the Client.
  • Unexcused Absence: An unexcused absence is an absence from your scheduled work time caused by conditions over which the employee has control or an absence that has not been previously approved by both your Vangst supervisor and the Client.
  • Tardiness: Tardiness is defined as employees reporting to work after their scheduled time. This includes meal and/or rest breaks, regardless of how much time has passed. It is as important to be on-time as it is to be present for work. Our clients depend on your presence to operation in the normal course of business.

  • Advance Notice: If an employee knows he/she will be unable to work all or part of their scheduled shift, the employee must notify Vangst Help Desk at-least sixty (60) minutes in advance of the scheduled shift, stating the reason for the absence. It is important to give notice of your absence during regular business hours. If this is not possible, you may leave a voicemail with Help Desk or email helpdesk@vangst.com with an update.

Providing advance notice is required and does not impact the decision of whether the absence is excused or unexcused. Each incident of absenteeism will be evaluated on its own merits. Vangst will determine whether an absence is excused or unexcused and will inform the employee of the decision.

An absent employee must notify the Help Desk each day of the absence status and report his/her availability to return to work, sixty (60) minutes prior to starting time, or earlier if possible. The employee must personally call Vangst’s Help Desk, unless they are physically unable to call due to an emergency, in which case another person may notify the employee’s immediate manager as soon as possible. If the employee calls the Client but fails to call Vangst, the absence may be considered unexcused.

JOB ABANDONMENT “NO CALL/NO SHOW”

An employee who is absent three consecutive work days without providing any notification, will be considered to have voluntarily quit, and will be removed from the available candidate pool. For the purposes of unemployment benefits, Vangst will consider this action job abandonment. Job abandonment will release Vangst from any and all claims for unemployment benefits and any claims for unemployment benefits may be denied.

Excessive absenteeism whether excused or unexcused prevents Vangst from operating in the normal course of business. Employees who are determined to have excessive absenteeism are subject to disciplinary action and/or termination.
